Massachusetts Association for Pupil Transportation
What will membership in mapt mean to you?
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Transportation officials that work for municipalities have few opportunities for professional development. MAPT is your source. Program meetings are held four times a year. The programs include regional and national speakers on a variety of transportation subjects. Some of our past programs include information on legal issues, homeless transportation, employee management, student management, budget and contracts.
Some of our past speakers include Betty Hughes from PTSI, Peter Cirioni from the State Office for Homeless Youth, representation from the Massachusetts Inspector Generals Office, Peggy Burns and Ginny Tate - Legal Experts, Operation Lifesaver and others with knowledge in specialized areas such as Homeland Security and Crisis Management.
Additionally, at each meeting we have representatives from the Registry of Motor Vehicles and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education who share the latest updates from the state.
NETWORKING
If you've ever felt isolated in your job, and wished you knew someone who had dealt with the same issue you are now facing then membership in MAPT is the solution.
You will have the opportunity to meet with individuals who work in many areas of transportation and talk with them about their experiences, ask questions or get advise.
A support group of transportation professionals is an invaluable benefit of your membership in MAPT.
Communication with the other members is made easier through the Discussion Board on this website.
