“LESSONS LEARNED WHEN IMPLEMENTING NEW TECHNOLOGIES”

What is Available for School Bus Transportation

By Michael Freeman, Assistant Transportation Director, Worcester Public Schools

We have seen a lot of advancements in school bus technology, including real time GPS tracking, for buses and students, tablets, collision mitigation, stop arm cameras and routing software, to name a few.

These technologies when implemented can enhance school bus operations and increase student safety.  New advancements in GPS and telematics technology allows fleets to track bus routes and driver behaviors.  Operations can view routes, danger zones and congestion.  This helps operations get students to school on-time.

Whether you self-operate or contract, this workshop is important for you to know what is available and how to go about implementing it in your district/operations.  Having school buses equipped with technologies that are now available can improve communications between school bus operations, schools, parents and others.  student behavior and discipline, vehicle maintenance, school bus routing, student tracking and pay for service monitoring can all be enhanced through the use of technologies offered today.

Join us to see what only “George Jetson” could have imagined is out there for us to utilize in making our jobs easier and more connected.  Register today, as this is sure to be a “must see”!

We are also pleased to welcome Sgt. Jason R. Macomber, Massachusetts State Police, Motor Vehicle Regulatory Section, CDL License Unit Training Coordinator, who will speak to the recent changes in the new CDL exam process.

Please don't miss this opportunity to network with colleagues and gain knowledge at the same time!
